I have attended probably two-thirds of the Distributech conferences, dating back to the days when it was called DA/DSM — and this year promises to be bigger than ever. The new venue in San Antonio seems a good choice (just got here tonight, but so far so good), and as far as I can tell, attendance is high — I talked with one firm tonight sending 50 attendees, which gives some indication.
I’m interested to see if last year’s trend of more “outside world” influence continues. Last year, there were more IT, telecom, and investor attendees than ever before — a sign that our little industry was growing up. I expect more of the same this year, as diverse new (capital-intensive) projects continue to capture attention.
I’ll report more here as I walk the floor and attend some sessions tomorrow.
